Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse

Since January is finally in full swing, I’m really beginning to feel the effects of winter. The temperatures are below freezing, snow is finally making an appearance, and warm weather is a thought of the past. While I love starting a new year and all the positive things to look forward to, I’m a summer girl at heart. But since I live in the Midwest, I just have to grin and bear the next few months. Are you the same way, too?

One good thing about the cold weather is that it’s perfectly acceptable to stay inside, watch movies, and snuggle up by the fireplace. I don’t feel quite so guilty about being a little lazy when the weather is brutal outside. It also gives me the opportunity to sip some hot chocolate and indulge in some decadent desserts.

And since I’m always in the mood for chocolate, I decided to combine two of my favorite treats into one with this rich and flavorful Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse. These individual servings contain an easy and delicious dessert that is creamy, smooth, and full of cheesecake flavor.

My inspiration for this dish came from my love of chocolate mousse. I can never resist the creamy texture and rich chocolate taste. Whenever I spot this treat at a restaurant, I always order it for dessert. And in my house, chocolate mousse is one of my favorite things to whip up. So because I love experimenting with new flavors, I decided to add in some cream cheese to turn this into a cheesecake mousse. And friends, this Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse is a definite winner! It tastes like a creamy chocolate cheesecake, in mousse form! No pie slices to cut or plates to pass out, these cheesecake mousse can be served in individual glasses or as one big trifle.

Besides the incredible taste, this Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse is a no-bake dessert, which means you can have this ready in minutes! Unlike regular cheesecakes, this mousse does not require a water bath or oven to bake. Sounds pretty good, right? And to put this mousse over the top, I crushed some chocolate Oreo cookies for the “crust” of the cheesecake. But if you’d rather skip that, feel free.

So let’s get down to the recipe! To make the mousse, you’ll start out with some basic ingredients. The first step is to beat some heavy cream in a large bowl until peaks form. Then, you’ll add in a block of softened cream cheese and whip until smooth. Next, you’ll add in some melted chocolate chips, the best part! I used semi-sweet chips, but milk chocolate chips would work just as well. Add in some vanilla extract and powdered sugar, mix well, and the Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse is almost ready to be devoured.

To make this Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse more like an actual cheesecake, I crushed 10 Oreo cookies and placed about 3 tablespoons in the bottom of each trifle glass to act as a crust. Then pour the mousse mixture over the crushed cookies and garnish with some whipped cream and chocolate chips.

If you have the willpower, chill the mousse for at least an hour to thicken up a bit. The texture turns into a creamy and firm mixture, which mimics the decadent cheesecake. Then get ready to indulge!

This Chocolate Cheesecake Mousse will be your new favorite dessert! Easy to make and full of rich chocolate, you’ll be whipping up this tasty dessert all the time!
