Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Today we’re jumping straight to recipe because there’s peanut butter and chocolate involved. It’s pretty much the best combination ever, if you ask me. And since I adore the two together, I decided to make my own Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups.  Doesn’t that just make your day a little bit sweeter? You’re welcome.

I guess it doesn’t come as a surprise that I’m a huge peanut butter addict. From eating pb&j sandwiches to drinking peanut butter smoothies, peanut butter is the name of my game. Which leads me to my all-time favorite candy, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I have no willpower when it comes to this treat, as I could inhale about 100 of them every day and never get tired of it. And have you tried the unwrapped mini Reese’s cups? Ah-mazing! I literally have to hide the bag so that I don’t eat them all in one sitting.

So when I had a craving for some chocolate recently, I got creative and whipped up these Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. This easy, no-bake treat contains just five ingredients and is perfect for the peanut butter lover. The smooth peanut butter and rich chocolate make an irresistible combination that is not only easy to make, but fun to eat!

My first requirement for the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups is that they contain a good amount of peanut butter. You know how Reese’s comes out with holiday peanut butter cup shapes such as pumpkins, Christmas trees, and Easter eggs? Well those always seem to taste even better than the regular kind because they’re filled with more peanut butter than usual. Have you noticed that, too?

So let’s get down to this oh-so delicious recipe! The peanut butter filling is adapted from my peanut butter muffin recipe, which is basically peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and a touch of vanilla extract. Sounds pretty easy, right? To make these Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, simply whip those ingredients together in a bowl and then divide into small balls.

Next, it’s time to melt some chocolate! I used Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers, as they melt easily and always turn out smooth. You could use chocolate chips as well, but be sure to add in a little vegetable or canola oil to the chocolate so that it’s smooth and silky. After the chocolate is melted, you’ll want to place about 1 teaspoon into the bottom of each muffin tin and spread it around so it coats the sides a bit.

Then take your peanut butter balls and place them in the middle of each tin. Pour the rest of the chocolate on top of each one, filling about 2/3 of the way full. Place the peanut butter cups into the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to harden and then get ready to devour!

One bite of these Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups and you’ll be in peanut butter heaven! The rich, dark chocolate combines perfectly with the smooth and creamy peanut butter. This treat is definitely made for the peanut butter lovers everywhere!
